Smell-y Baby

Rou's baby, milky smell left her after she turned a month old. I miss that baby smell! In place are poop smells (sweet smelling since she's breast fed), saliva smells (her hands are constantly in her mouth and she smears saliva all over her face, rubs it all over her hands and onto you) and the smell of wax in her ears. I have to say all of them are addictive!

Out with the Khoos

We took a trip with the Khoos up to Terminal 3 for dinner one evening, sans Gabe as he was having nutritious home-cooked food at his grandparents. Some time alone with Rou and a breather for us parents.

Livingjoyfully and her cutie pie

Rou is the first baby uncle kk has ever carried. In fact, he was so stressed with carrying her as a newborn, his arms were strained from tension. Here's uncle kk practising holding Rou at the airport. She's about to turn two months old here.

The Little Screamer

Rou is a smiley one. She smiles easily and readily to anyone who would speak with her and show their pearly whites to her. But when she does cry, man, does she bring down the roof!

She Laughs

Rou laughed out loud for the first time today! And I'm her first and only audience. Ahh... the joys of motherhood.

Botak Rou

Just like her brother, we decided to shave Rou and make her a Chinese brush and name stamp. But instead of doing it at four months, we figured two months was a better time for the little girl. I mean, you wouldn't want her without her crowning glory at that late stage right, not to mention the whole world will be mistaking her for a boy.

So we made the appointment and the good people from Hua Xia Tai Mao Bi Centre came to shave her head and get all the transactions done, all in the comfort of our home. We discovered that gabe's name stamp, the one with his umbilical cord wedged inside, was faulty, and promptly returned it to the company for repair.

I reiterate that anything to do with babies is lucrative in nature. We burnt a huge hole in our pockets. But we figured it's something we can leave with them as a token of remembrance when they grow up. Perhaps it's more of a token for the parents than for the kids, since it really reminds us of them when they were mere babes...

Rou was totally cool about the whole thing. No fuss, no tears. It was real smooth. Yeah, her head was too, after the shave.

The before picture.

Now you see it...

now you don't.

"Sob... I hope I still look decent without hair..."

Update in May: Rou's rate of growth (hair) is definitely greater than her brother's.

Random Pictures: The 2nd Month

Waigong and Waipo having fun with Rou.
Waigong is the first person Rou consistently responsed with big smiles at the beginning.

Relatively skinny and still not taking up much of the length of the bouncer at two months.

Rou's very wayang in that she has lots of poses with those fingers.

Demonstrating the strength of her neck from a very early stage.

Loads of expressions from this girl.

Blissful. For both the babe and the mother. Cheeks fluffing up.

Started putting her down on her tummy for naps, in attempt to wean her from the sarong.

My feet, your hands.

This is a series of photos that amused us pretty much. Check out the gloomy face...

that suddenly burst into a great smile...

sustained for a little while...

before toning it down to a gentle gaze...

and then the lights went off.

Urgh! I still can't believe I'm a mother of two!?!
