Being Rou's Mother

Mothering Rou is a very different experience from mothering Gabe.

Sigh... she's the sweetest thing (when she's not howling). Gabe was a wonderful baby and nothing can replace his position as the firstborn, but Rou really tugs at the heart strings with nary an effort. Maybe it's a girl thing, I don't know.

She recognizes me as mummy, gives me smiles that are exclusively mine and when she wakes from a good nap and from a long night, those wide toothless grins are just beautiful. Actually, they border between cute and funny and it's rather impossible not to return a smile or a laugh.

Her eyes follow me where I go. She opens her arms and cries "M!" to get me to pick her up . She calms upon hearing my voice or when I carry her from someone else's arms.

She's a lovely little girl. It hasn't been smooth, this journey, ever since I conceived her, but it surely is much easier with such a lovely daughter.
